PT Success at Goodlife Health Clubs | Heather & Les

The first time Les entered his local Goodlife gym, he was on a mobility scooter. In June, he completed a 10km Spartan Obstacle Course Race with the support and guidance from his Personal Trainer, Heather.

Les has been battling a condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome since 2017, which initially left him unable to walk. After a successful surgery in 2022, where a Dorsal Column Stimulator was placed into his back, Les was finally able to move without pain and fast forward a year, began his Personal Training journey. His initial goals were to gain general fitness and strength that had been lost due to his CRPS. He also wanted to take on the 10km Spartan Obstacle Course!

Due to his condition, working with a personal trainer he could trust was especially important to Les. “Heather has not only taught me fitness, but mental strength as well, helping me to believe in myself”.

With approval from his doctor, Les and Heather began training for the Spartan Obstacle Course right away. Training was a challenge at first. Les didn’t know how his body would cope or respond to the workouts, let alone a 10km obstacle course race. However, with the support of Heather, his doctor and fiancé Lea, Les successfully completed the course in June this year.

Now Les is achieving his goals left, right and centre!

According to Heather, “Les never takes what he can do with his body for granted. If you see him in the gym, he is always happy to be there and gives every workout 110% wearing the brightest colours in the room! I’m so incredibly proud to have Les as a client and now a friend”

To someone considering Personal Training, Les has this advice: “Although it can be daunting to start the process, once you begin to see the results, all of the trials and tribulations are worth it to be where you want to be in life”.
